OPEC Turns 50

Today in Washington, DC as OPEC hits it's its 50th birthday, Growth Energy Co-Chairman and POET CEO Jeff Broin and Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis held a press conference in the House Ag Committee Room to outline Growth Energy's plan for America that would eliminate our nation's dependency of OPEC oil through higher blends of ethanol and more infrastructure that would allow for greater consumer fuel choice. Broin commented, "as a producer of ethanol, but even more important, an American, I urge policy makers to immediately take these necessary steps so future birthdays for OPEC can be 'over the hill' parties."

Administrator Jackson at Growth Energy's Conference

EPA administrator Lisa Jackson spoke at growth Energy's Fall Legislative Conference in Washington today. This week the EPA is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Clean Air Act. During her comments she reinforced earlier comments that the DOE testing for E15 on 2007 and later model vehicles would be completed by the end of September and the EPA would then make their decision. Testing on 2001 - 2006 vehicles will be completed by the end of November.

POET tree

Today is Arbor Day. To celebrate, POET is sponsoring"POET Tree" where 5th graders submit poems and participate in tree plantings at their schools. Each student is also awarded a tree seedling to plant at home. Nearly 3,000 trees will be planted thanks to POET Tree! Here, we are at Pettigrew Elementary School in Sioux Falls.
