Today in Las Vegas, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France along with POET CEO Jeff Broin; General Wesley Clark, Co-Chair of Growth Energy; Bart Schott, President of National Corn Growers Association; with the help of NASCAR Champions Rusty Wallace and Carl Edwards announced an exciting new partnership between NASCAR and American Ethanol.
Today in Washington, DC as OPEC hits it's its 50th birthday, Growth Energy Co-Chairman and POET CEO Jeff Broin and Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis held a press conference in the House Ag Committee Room to outline Growth Energy's plan for America that would eliminate our nation's dependency of OPEC oil through higher blends of ethanol and more infrastructure that would allow for greater consumer fuel choice. Broin commented, "as a producer of ethanol, but even more important, an American, I urge policy makers to immediately take these necessary steps so future birthdays for OPEC can be 'over the hill' parties."
EPA administrator Lisa Jackson spoke at growth Energy's Fall Legislative Conference in Washington today. This week the EPA is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Clean Air Act. During her comments she reinforced earlier comments that the DOE testing for E15 on 2007 and later model vehicles would be completed by the end of September and the EPA would then make their decision. Testing on 2001 - 2006 vehicles will be completed by the end of November.
Jeff Broin is now presenting the results of an independent study on the Life Cycle Analysis GHG reduction of POET's Project LIBERTY. Study determined a 111%reduction compared to gasoline.
Today at the Fuel Ethanol Workshop in St. Louis, POET CEO Jeff Broin was awarded the prestigious High Octane Award for his dedication and leadership in the ethanol industry. Later today, Jeff will be holding a press conference to make an important announcement on POET's Project LIBERTY.
Today is Arbor Day. To celebrate, POET is sponsoring"POET Tree" where 5th graders submit poems and participate in tree plantings at their schools. Each student is also awarded a tree seedling to plant at home. Nearly 3,000 trees will be planted thanks to POET Tree! Here, we are at Pettigrew Elementary School in Sioux Falls.
Macon was excited about the President's visit to their town and was an excellent host. The POET plant has been an economic driver to the area for the past decade. I'm sure the Presidential visit was a boost to their local economy as well.
